The device for calculating the friction loss in the pipe

Energy loss due to friction inside a straight pipe appears as a pressure drop. If a liquid flow passes through a pipe, the height difference of liquid levels (h) in piezometers represents the loss of frictional energy or pressure drop (per unit weight of flowing fluid). Considering that the dimension of pressure drop per unit weight of fluid is of longitudinal dimension, it is also called head drop or height drop. In engineering problems, the pressure drop is usually calculated for the unit length of the pipe and it is called pressure gradient or hydraulic gradient. With the friction loss device in the pipe, it is possible to clearly check the changes of the friction coefficient according to the type of flow and determine the Reynolds critical value.
