This device is used to show the effects of gyroscope and to determine the relationship between applied torque and forward speed in a gyroscope.
A gyroscope is a device for measuring or maintaining direction that uses the principle of conservation of angular momentum. The behavior of a mechanical gyroscope shows the constancy of the characteristics of angular momentum (the amount of kinetic energy and its direction as a vector value).
The test device consists of a rotating disk that is placed on the axis of a small motor. This assembly can rotate around the vertical axis by means of a motor that is placed in the base. To adjust the gyroscopic couple, different weights can be attached to the disc rotating motor frame. The motor that is responsible for rotating the axis of rotation of the disc is located on the bottom plate of the machine and at the base, and its axis is connected to the vertical axis connected to the frame by a coupling.
